Healthy Hair Tips

Did you know?

IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH HAIR LOSS:

  1. Get a blood test done for deficiencies and thyroid problems.
  2. See a dermatologist.

When it comes to hair loss, there are things that we can and cannot control. Here are some things that we CAN control when it comes to growing your hair.

  • Avoid using heat. Give your hair and scalp a rest for 3-6 months. Use no-heat hairstyles.
  • Avoid super tight hairstyles. You can do braids & other protective styles as long as they’re not too tight.
  • Avoid coloring your hair for 3-6 months. Dye contains ingredients that will cause hair loss.
  • Gather your hair into a low, loose braid or bun before sleeping. Don’t sleep with your hair out.
  • Do NOT wash your hair every day.
  • If you have dandruff, eczema, etc, wash your hair MORE often. It is important to CLEANSE your scalp and not suffocate your hair follicles with buildup. Use the oil on your hair & scalp EVERY TIME before you wash your hair. If you suffer from scalp issues, aim to wash hair 2-3 times per week. Use our Massage Brush to cleanse your scalp thoroughly while shampooing.
  • Massage your scalp (or beard) EVERY DAY! You want to help stimulate your blood vessels to grow your hair faster. Use our Massage Brush to gently massage in the oil and scalp serum for 5-10 minutes a day.
  • READ the INGREDIENTS! Don’t use products that contain: formaldehyde, quaternium-15, DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, polyoxymethylene urea, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol (bromopol) and glyoxal. THESE INGREDIENTS ARE KNOWN TO CAUSE HAIR LOSS.
    • GENTLY brush your hair. Use a detangler brush or wide tooth comb and gently brush from the the ends of your hair and move upward toward your scalp. When brushing your hair, your goal is to keep as much hair on your scalp as possible while regrowing new hair with our products.

    • Do not wrap your hair up in a turban after washing! Use a microfiber cloth to dry it gently and let it air dry on its own.
    • EAT a HEALTHY diet full of nuts, seeds, eggs, avocados, berries, vegetables, healthy oil like extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil.
    • Take hair supplements!
    • Limit stress & anxiety. Meditate. Go for a walk.
If your hair follicles are alive, our products may thicken your hair within 3-6 months when used consistently. If your hair follicles are dead, our products will not work, but may prevent future thinning.

My Hair is Shedding Like Crazy! Why?

        Why Is My Hair Shedding?

It's normal to shed between 50 and 100 hairs a day. When the body sheds significantly more hairs every day, a person has excessive hair shedding. The term for excessive shedding is Telogen Effluvium.

Telogen effluvium (TE) is a very common hair loss condition characterized by periods of increased hair shedding. You may see an excess amount of hair in your shower drain, in your hair brush or on your pillow in the morning. The shedding is NOT subtle. It comes on quickly and can lead to 30-50% scalp hair loss. People who experience TE are understandably upset, thinking that all their hair will fall out.

Most people do not recognize the association between the trigger and the hair loss because it happens 3 months after the trigger. Potential triggers include:

        • Pregnancy, delivery or miscarriage
        • Illness or fever
        • Hospitalization or surgery, chemo, radiation
        • Abnormal thyroid hormone function or change in dose of thyroid medicine
        • Significant emotional trauma such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or job loss
        • Starting, stopping, or changing hormone medications including birth control or IUD
        • Entering menopause

The good news: Your hair will regrow. The bad news: Hair regrowth is slow.

What you can do if you think you’ve had a TE episode:

        1. DON’T PANIC!
        2. BE PATIENT. Your hair will regrow. Use our products to prevent more shedding and help grow new hair.
        3. Most importantly, avoid new potential triggers.
        4. If after 6 months, your shedding does not return to normal (100-150 hairs a day), this could be the sign of another type of alopecia.

        True Hair Loss: Alopecia

There are several types of alopecia.

Alopecia Areata: An autoimmune disease that develops when your body attacks your hair follicles. It can happen anywhere on the body, including the scalp. It often causes round, patchy areas that are completely hair-free.

Traction Alopecia: Tight hairstyles cause this type of hair loss. It can show up if you wear tight braids or ponytails everyday or wear hair extentions or weaves. These styles tug on the hair roots and damage hair follicles over time.

Androgenetic Alopecia: The most common type of hair loss in both men and women. In males, it’s the cause of male-pattern baldness. In women, it happens more often after menopause. The hair loss tends to come on gradually.

All of our hair products contain essential oils, such as Rosemary & Thyme, that may help with Telogen Effluvium and all types of alopecia.

        Our Ancient Ingredients

        Rosemary Oil

        OUR MAIN ACTIVE INGREDIENT...

According to studies, rosemary oil performed as well as minoxidil, a common hair growth treatment, but with less scalp itching as a side effect. All of our products contain a hefty, skin-safe dose of rosemary oil.

Rosemary was considered sacred by ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Hebrews, and Romans, and it was used for numerous purposes. It was used throughout the civilizations in cosmetics for its antiseptic, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant properties and in medical care for its health benefits.

        Thyme Oil

Thyme was used way back to the beginning of written records. The earliest example we know of is dated back to ancient Sumeria over 3,000 years ago. The author of this script noted that thyme was an antiseptic. Thyme oil is known to reduce bacteria and fungus that cause itching, dandruff, and seborrheic dermatitis.

        Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is not an ancient oil. It was discovered in 1920's Australia, but we couldn't leave out this important oil due to its awesome properties for hair. Tea tree oil has antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Helps blood circulate and stimulates dormant hair follicles.

        Jasmine Oil

The word Jasmine is derived from the Persian word 'yasmin' which translates to "gift from God". It's said that the ancient Egyptian queen was so enticed by the scent of jasmine that she used it regularly on her hair.

Jasmine oil contains moisturizing properties to prevent hair breakage. It is light and penetrates the hair shaft to deeply condition. Jasmine oil is an antiseptic that purifies the scalp of bacteria and buildup. Natural healing properties help with scalp conditions like dandruff.

        Castor Oil

Castor oil was used in the ancient Mediterranean for for its many hair and skin benefits. It contains ricinoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids. When massaged onto the scalp, it helps increase blood circulation, which improves hair growth and prevents hair fall.

Castor seeds have been found in Egyptian tombs dating back to 4000 BC; the slow-burning oil was mostly used to fuel lamps. Greek travelers noted the use of castor seed oil for lighting, body ointments, and improving hair growth and texture. Cleopatra is reputed to have used it to brighten the whites of her eyes.

        Moringa Oil

Also known as Ben oil, Moringa oil was found in the tombs of ancient Egyptians. The placement of the oil in tombs shows its importance in ancient Egypt, as tombs were filled with items that were deemed valuable so the deceased could use them in the next life. Moringa oil has been used by numerous cultures as a form of skin protection from sun and desert weather.

Moringa is high in oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, linoleic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants. It acts as a moisturizer for the scalp and it has zinc, which helps with keratin production.

        Coconut Oil

Ancient Egyptian women used coconut oil to keep their tresses long and healthy. Coconut oil contains vitamins and fatty acids that lubricates hair and relieves itchy scalp, as well as prevents frizz.

        Neem Oil

According to the ancient science of Ayurveda, neem is the king of all medicinal herbs. Used in ancient India, neem oil contains nimbidin, an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant. It treats many scalp issues, including dandruff, inflammation, and itchiness.

Neem contains fatty acids, vitamin E, triglycerides, antioxidants, and calcium, all of which contribute to a healthy scalp environment. Neem oil also supports the growth of healthy hair follicles.

        Fir Needle Oil

Ancient Egyptians made a hair growth formula from fir needle oil and massaged it into their scalps to energize the roots and stimulate the scalp. Contains astringent properties, meaning it can treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, itching, eczema and other skin diseases. Also helps to get rid of the unpleasant body odor

        Frankincense Oil

Yes, the same frankincense from the Bible, that was brought to Jesus as a gift by the 3 wise men. Known as "The King" of essential oils, frankincense has antibacterial, antiseptic, and antioxidant qualities that protects the scalp and heals it from damage, reducing inflammation and soothing hair follicles which help with hair growth.

Most frankincense comes from five species of Boswellia trees, found in North Africa and India, but also in Oman, Yemen, and western Africa.

The Egyptian Ebers Papyrus dated to 1500 BC is the oldest known reference to frankincense, and it prescribes the resin as a use for throat infections and asthmatic attacks. In the first century AD, the Roman writer Pliny mentioned it as an antidote to hemlock; the Islamic philosopher Ibn Sina (or Avicenna, 980-1037 AD) recommended it for tumors, ulcers, and fevers.

        Hair Oil

The Hair Oil is meant to be applied to your hair and scalp as often as you like, preferably every other day. You can leave it in for 1 hour and then wash it out, OR you can leave it in until next wash day.

        Scalp Serum

The Scalp Serum is best for those who suffer from scalp dandruff, eczema, or psoriasis. Apply it nightly before bed and DO NOT wash it out.

It's also great for those who do not want to oil their head. It's made mostly out of aloe vera.

Can I use the Scalp Serum & Hair Oil together?

That really depends on your hair and scalp. You won’t get any extra benefits to using them ON YOUR SCALP at the same time. It may even cause irritation.

HOWEVER, you can use them both at the same time like so: Scalp Serum ONLY on your Scalp, and Hair Oil ONLY on your hair strands, not on your scalp.

If you want to put the Hair Oil on your scalp before bed, don’t use the Scalp Serum. Alternate using the Hair Oil & Scalp Serum every other night.

Our Scalp Serum is the most potent products on our line that is non-greasy. It was made specifically for those who suffer from scalp issues, while stimulating follicles.

To dilute the oil 50%, mix the entire bottle of oil with 1/4 cup (2oz) of carrier oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, or almond oil.
